web development for the Lake Champlain Committee

At Ecopixel, there is nothing we find more rewarding than growing alongside our clients. For years, we’ve had the privilege of supporting the Lake Champlain Committee (LCC) in their vital work protecting the health and accessibility of the lake we all love.

Lake Champlain is a massive, complex resource. With a watershed spanning two states (Vermont and New York) and Quebec, Canada, the LCC’s digital home needs to serve a diverse community of scientists, advocates, and neighbors. We recently completed a full redesign of their website to ensure their online tools are as resilient as the lake itself.

A Transformation of Content and Design

Migrating a longtime customer often means managing a wealth of history and information. We didn’t just move the LCC’s data; we transformed all existing content to fit a modern, mobile-responsive design. The result is a site that feels fresh and intuitive, making it easier for visitors to learn about water quality, advocacy, and lake ecology.

Streamlining the "Giving" Experience

Nonprofits thrive on the support of their community. To make that support as seamless as possible, we implemented entirely new donation and membership forms. By reducing friction in the giving process, the LCC can spend less time troubleshooting tech and more time on the water.

Empowering Staff with Better Tools

One of the most significant upgrades happened behind the scenes. We converted all of the LCC’s online forms to our new, easy-to-edit forms manager.

This shift gives the LCC team total control. Whether they need to update a volunteer signup or create a new event registration, they can do so in minutes without needing a developer. This flexibility is critical for a fast-moving regional nonprofit.

Strengthening Citizen Science

The LCC is well-known for its incredible citizen science programs, including their critical blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) monitoring. A key goal of this redesign was to improve the forms used by these volunteers.

With more user-friendly reporting tools, citizen scientists can quickly and accurately submit data from the field. Better data leads to better protection for the watershed, ensuring that Lake Champlain remains a treasure for generations to come.
