We've launched a major website redesign for longtime customer Stowe Land Trust! Ecopixel has served this Vermont land trust's website needs for 18 years.

Ecopixel has now updated the nonprofit's website design four times to keep pace with the ever-changing web landscape. Each time, the website’s extensive content remains intact but is re-flowed into the new layout — saving many hours of work. Since 2004, the land trust's website has been powered by a reliable and flexible CMS (content management system) called TYPO3 that has allowed the website to evolve along with the organization's needs.

Ecopixel collaborated with land trust staff on the website redesign and reorganization, including iterative rounds of web design work. The new web design was part of a major rebranding of the organization — the first in its 35-year history. Ecopixel carefully followed the new style guidelines so that the organization is represented consistently across all communication channels. The new design is mobile-first (designed from the start with smartphones in mind), touchscreen-friendly, and fully responsive (making the content look great on all screen sizes).

An important goal of the new website was to make it more inclusive by meeting ADA accessibility goals through conformance with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines. This helps ensure the website can be used by everyone in the community.

The redesigned and upgraded website also includes improved fundraising features, including online recurring donations, memberships, and special fundraising event registration. The design of campaign and donation forms blends seamlessly within the website content because these forms are a built-in part of the website, not an add-on.

All constituent information is securely and automatically sent to the organization's constituent relationship database, Little Green Light (LGL). Ecopixel's in-depth Little Green Light integration makes it easier for staff to solicit and track gifts, memberships, event registrations, volunteer sign-ups, enewsletter subscriptions, and contact forms.

Stowe Land Trust has an active events calendar. The new website showcases it with a new calendar and events registration system. Attendees can sign up in seconds on pages that are right on the organization's website.

Other features of this land trust website include:

  • custom-designed icons and special page layouts
  • enhanced social media integrations, and
  • custom email marketing template that matches the website design.

In Stowe Land Trust’s 35 years, it has conserved over 4,500 acres of land — protecting spectacular viewsheds, extensive trail networks, and working farms and forests that are important to the community of Stowe, Vermont. Their revamped website will help them continue this important work.
